Scissor

INTRODUCTION

Scissor is a widely known hand tool used for cutting various materials. Scissor are one of the first tool one starts using from early years of life. Scissor has two blades which are fixed on a single pin to allow these blades to rotate vice versa. The user has to put the material in between the two blades of open Scissor and press both handles of open Scissor at the same time to create pressure on both sides in order to divide the placed material in two parts. Scissor are used for numberless jobs and as per uses there are many types of Scissor available in market.

Origin

Ancient Time

As per the fact sheet of hand tools history Scissor firstly came into existence 3,000 or 4,000 years ago in Middle East. It was initially known as spring Scissor. These Spring Scissor were made up of a pair of bronze blades are linked at the handle by a small bronze strip. The blades performed with the help of this thin strip, these spring Scissor were used in ancient Rome, Japan, Korea and China etc.

Middle Age

Scissor manufacturing got a new system during the middle age. Usually iron bars were used to make scissor, these iron bars were heated up to high temperature and then these heated bar where leveled evenly and hammered its edges into blades on a heavy block. After this process the center of this bar was heated; to turn it to form a proper shape. With the invention of cast steel, Scissor manufacturing got a new look and faster speed.

19th Century

Ornately Scissor came into fashion in 19th century. By this time Scissor were embellished with attractive handles. The manufacturing techniques were improved enough by the end of 19th century.
In 20th century advanced techniques and machineries were invented and now the blades and handles are shaped by drop hammers. Nowadays, we use the advance version of drop hammers to manufacture Scissor.

Scissor is a cutting device which is used to cut various materials. Scissor are made up of two blades which rotate on an axis against each other and divide the placed material

Material Used
Scissor are generally made with steel but as per the requirement of uses it may be manufactured with other metals too. Steel Scissor are manufactured using two kind of materials.

Carbon Steel Scissor are made with single piece. Carbon Steel Scissor's handles and blades are made with an undivided slice of carbon steel bar. Carbon Steel Scissor are robust and its blade have long lasting sharpness. Application of a layer of nickel or chromium, increases their rust resistance.
Stainless steel Scissor have plastic handles. Stainless steel Scissor have high rust resistance. The use of chromium makes them highly rustproof . Stainless steel Scissor are light in weight and offer a comfortable handling.

There is a huge variety in types of Scissor. Scissor have numberless uses and as per theuse there are different kind of Scissor available in market. For some particular jobs a sharp bladed Scissor is required, where as for kids a scissor with blunt blades would be more appropriate.
