Introduction
Spray Guns are devices shaped like a gun which throw a sprinkle of liquid when some kind of pressure is applied on it. The origin of spray guns can be traced back to “Airbrush” which is a air-operated apparatus, using the process of atomization to spray various types of liquids including water, ink, dye, paint etc. Air brush was invented in the year 1879 by Abner Peeler of U.S.A Types of spray guns Spray guns are of various types including suction fed spray guns, gravity fed spay guns, air assisted spray guns, airless spray guns, manual spray guns, high volume spray guns etc. Except the airless gun, most of the spray guns atomize dry or liquid paint to paint a surface. Velocity and pressure of the spray The velocity with which the stream of liquid is being delivered is proportional to the pressure being applied. Most of the times spray guns use pressure in the range of 20-35 PSI depending on the application for which it is being used. Some exceptional applications such as Automobile painting requires heavy spray guns using more than 100 PSI pressure. Large amount of pressure is required to sufficiently atomize the spray. This is done by spraying highly viscous liquid. Use of Spray Guns
