Torches

Torches are basically electrical devices that generate a beam of light rays either with the help of combustion of gas or with the help of electric power generated by batteries. The electric torches generally consists of a light bulb fitted in a light reflector, batteries, transparent plastic or glass sheet, electric circuit board, on/off switch and a hard and durable case made up of plastic or some metal. The torches are available in varieties of sizes, shapes and designs.

When we switch on the torch the electric current starts flowing through the bulb filament. A lots of heat is generated due to the resistance offered by the filament which is seen in the form of light. The projector is used to reflect or direct all the light rays generated by the bulb in a particular direction. The batteries used in the torch may one-time-usable or rechargeable. Torches are mainly used for emergency uses in homes when electricity is not available. Torches are also used in mining operations (usually mounted on the helmet worn by workers).
